Log files and failure feedback?
Log files and failure feedback? was created by Magnusnu
I would like to see a log file on successful/delayed/failed delivery, ideally with a connection back to sending email account in order to easily manage recipients that don't leave the list before shutting down their email accounts.
The double status check will be useful where a spamfilter in front of domain may not reject invalid users - accepting the email from sender, but never delivering to user, and a different server sends back an undelivered message.
If that can trigger an alert/warning status on users it will be a very efficient way to reduce bounces...

Hi Magnusnu,
welcome to BwPostman!
Yes, a log file would with these information be helpful. But BwPostman uses the mailer provided by Joomla and from there the only results returned are true or false. At the foreseeable future I have not the time to implement another (own?) mailer to get better return values.
And I see another problem at least with one big German provider: If there come more than x mails from a mail address(, IP or a combination) within y time, all further mails are rejected, nevertheless the recipients are valid or not. You have to register at this provider to be able to send all your mails.
This could be avoided by using a mail supplier like Newsletter2Go, mailChimp or SendGrid. There You surely get the desired information, but this could perhaps create problems with the GDPR, but the support for such platforms also is not yet implemented at BwPostman.

Ok!
I had same issue with our ISP - so have had to throttle sending to 8 emails and wait a minute.
Not a big problem for us given we just have 110 on the list. But spotting if one email goes wrong is har work - even if I try to keep an eye I most often get distracted and miss the information - so just that log would be very welcome.
Magic would be a pop or imap client session that monitor the email account and flagged accounts with failure messages.
Many thanks for fast and clear answer

Hi Magnusu,
Your suggestions are very interesting an I will see, what I can do. But there is already a lot of work for BwPostman at the pipeline and less time for this free project…
Your solution with 8 mails per minute is viable with 110 recipients, but I know a user, which has about 8000 recipients. There this slow sending would last one day, some other users with 1000 or 2000 recipients…
You get an email, if a newsletter can't be delivered and mostly there is a message from the server which does not deliver the mail with the reason included. Is this not enough as a workaround?
Best
