  • Thank you for creating such an easy-to-use extension.
We are currently using this extension for our internal Joomla website within the company. This website is not accessible from outside our network. As a result, images for the articles cannot be loaded (or displayed correctly) when using the extension externally (e.g., in a newsletter). We have two main questions regarding the configuration:
    • Is it possible to exclude images from the articles entirely?
    • Is it possible to show only the link to the article in the newsletter? Users could then click the link, and their browser would open the complete article on our internal site.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

  • Hello Arco,

    do I get it right:
You have a Company-restricted website. Your visitors come from within Your company net. So this website is accessible from anywhere in Your company. But You use a mail client, which is settled outside Your company, so that the local website is not accessible from the mail client?

    Puzzling over this

  • Hello Arco,

perhaps I know what is happening. There is a setting at the editor of Joomla, where You set relative of absolute paths of Your inserted media. A relative path  is okay from inside Your website. But if You embed Your articles at a newsletter, the recipients are perhaps inside Your local net, but surely outside of Your website and needs an absolute link.

But I have another question: I was not able to reach You by Your provided mail. Also this website was not able to send the account confirmation  to You. Both refuses looked so:

    host smtp.xxx.net[000.111.333.222] said: 554 5.7.1
<yyyy.zzz.com[111.222.111.222]>: Client host rejected: Generic -
Please relay via ISP (zzz.com) (in reply to RCPT TO command)

How could You manage to confirm Your account so that You are able to post here? Do I have a leak?

  • You are correct in your assumption.

Our website is only accessable through our own net or through our own vpn connection.
Our e-mail server is not inside our own network.

I know this is why our images are not accessable on the outside. But I would like to find a way to make the newsletter presentable and not show "placeholders" of images with a box with a red X in it.

  • I registered through a different e-mail adres.
It seems we had some issues with our e-mail services yesterday. Our system administrator was quite busy.

  • Hello Arco,

I didn't asked for Your mail server, I asked for the used mail clients! If the clients are inside your own network, then the images are accessible if You provide  the absolute URL to the omage. I know this, because I have the same scenario here for my automated tests.

Depending on the settings of Your vpn it could be possible to display the images also, if Your mail client sits outside Your network, but with vpn connection on.

Is it possible to show only the link to the article in the newsletter? Users could then click the link, and their browser would open the complete article on our internal site.

You may leave the intro text of Your article blank, perhaps only a space, set the readon at Your newsletter template and that's it. Or You create Your own newsletter template, which contains Your wishes.
