the extension I use for this part of my website is broken, the developer runs out of steam and I didn't had the time to repair this. It is the next project to adopt on my list…

But why do You want to download and translate the English language files? They are provided with the package of BwPostman. Do You want to translate to French, as it implies, because You use this thread? Then I will send You a mail with the french language files attached.

Furthermore translation is done at transifex. It is more convenient than translate manually and there is the possibility for me to automate the provision of the language packages (if it works).

Hello JANBOL,

the Joomla! language override system is not meant to be used to translate to another language. You can use it, but it will be very painful. The usual way is to look/ask for an appropriate language package.

I assume, You were looking for language strings from the emails (confirmation, some special texts of the newsletter). I also assume, You were looking for these language strings in the front end language files. But these strings reside at the backend language files, because the mails are composed ans sent from the backend.
